In short. You must be 13 or older. The game is fiction. Romance, paid companionship and gambling are 18+ only. Payments and refunds go through Patreon. Play fair.

1. Who we are

Gentlemen's Estate is a browser game, operated by Tristan Trickett, an individual based in South Africa ("we", "us"). We are not a registered company, and we do not publish a street address. By creating an account or playing, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not play.

2. Who can play

  • You must be 13 or older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up, and we refuse sign-up if you are under 13.
  • If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to play.
  • Give your real date of birth. If it is wrong, email us and we will fix it.

3. The game and its content

Gentlemen's Estate is a work of fiction and satire. Characters, businesses, brands and events are made up or parodies. Nothing in the game is real, and nothing in it is advice or encouragement to do anything in real life. In-game money has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out.

  • Under 18: romance, paid companionship and gambling are locked on our servers and cannot be switched on.
  • 18 and over: you can opt in to those three. They are off until you switch them on.
  • Everything else is open to all players, including swearing, drugs and crime jobs.

If anything in the game affects you in real life, please talk to someone you trust.

4. Your account and playing fair

  • You sign up with an email and password. Keep your password private, you are responsible for your account, and one account is for one person.
  • Do not cheat, tamper with saves, exploit bugs, use bots, attack the servers, or try to get around the paywall or the age locks.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. We may reset or fix saves when we repair bugs or deal with cheating.

5. Payments, refunds and the lifetime bundle

  • The first 16 in-game weeks are free. After that you need paid access, bought through Patreon.
  • Payments and refunds are handled through Patreon, under Patreon's policies. We never see your card details. To cancel a membership or ask for a refund, use Patreon. If Patreon refunds or reverses a payment, the access it paid for ends.
  • Lifetime bundle: US$99, one-off, sold through Patreon. "Lifetime" means for as long as we run the game, not for your own lifetime. We switch it on by hand once Patreon confirms the purchase, so it may not be instant. It is tied to your account.
  • Your Patreon email must match your game account email, or email us and we will link them.

6. Changes and availability

The game is in development. Features, prices and content may change, and the service can be down sometimes. We provide the game "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost progress or indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer. If we ever close the game, we will give notice and a way to download your saves.

7. Law

These Terms are governed by the law of South Africa. If you live somewhere whose consumer law gives you extra rights, you keep them. Please contact us first so we can sort things out informally. We may update these Terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
